Add/Edit Material Data, Properties, Diagrams and Documents

This section provides instructions for adding and editing material information (properties, testing parameters, diagrams, documents, etc.). To get started, select the material you wish to edit from the Materials menu of Creator section.

Add/Edit General Material Information

Select Material

Select desired material from the search result list by using available searching options ("Material Designation", "Standard", "Material Group", "Release Status", "Department"). If the desired material isn't available in the search results, be sure to create the material using "CREATE NEW MATERIAL" button.

Click the "Edit" button

Once the desired material is selected/created, general material information can be easily added using the "EDIT" button located to the right to Material designation.

Add/Edit General Material Information

Clicking the "EDIT" button (step 2) will open a new pop-up window, with one default (Basic Information) and two optional (Additional Information and Departments) sections displayed on the right side of the window:

Basic Information: Basic material information (Material designation, Alternative designation, Standard and Material group).

Aditional Information: Additional configurable material information (E.g. Material status, Part number, Material code, Price of material etc.).

Departments: Configurable material departments indicating which company department the material is used in (E.g. CAD, CAE, Test, Simulation department etc.).

In the each of these sections desired additions and changes can be made (except for the main "Material Group", which can not be deselected).

The content and each content item in Basic, Additional Information and Departments sections are configurable in the Data Maintenance section Parameters.

All mandatory items are marked with an asterisk (*).

Add/Edit a Conditions

Select Material

Select desired material from the search result list by using available searching options ("Material Designation", "Standard", "Material Group", "Release Status", "Department"). If the desired material isn't available in the search results, be sure to create material using CREATE NEW MATERIAL button.

Select Property Group

Utilize the menu on the right to access the desired property group in which property value will be added/edited.

Select Material Condition

After selecting the desired property group, a new condition can be created by clicking the "ADD NEW CONDITION" button or an existing one can be edited by selecting the desired condition and clicking the button, located to the right of the each Condition. A pop-up window with a list of available condition parameters (e.g. heat treatment, dimension, form, test method, reference, etc.) will appear, allowing the users to select the desired parameters.

Select Condition

To add a property, select the desired condition to which property data will be added (See section "Add/Edit a Conditions" above) and click the button, located to the left of each Condition and select "Add property".

To edit a property, select the desired condition to which the property data will be added (See section "Add/Edit a Conditions" above) and click the button, located to the right of existing Property.

Select Property

Select the desired property by using the searchable drop-down list. If the property is not available in the list, make sure to add it in the Data Maintenance - Properties section of Creator.

Add/Edit Property Value(s)

Enter approximate, minimum, or maximum values for property and testing temperature in the provided number fields. Select the appropriate property unit (e.g. MPa) and temperature unit (e.g. °C) from the "Unit" dropdown menus. If applicable, add any additional information in the "Comment" text box and choose a "Test method" from the dropdown.

To save changes and close the "Add Property" window, click the button, located in the lower middle of the "Add Property" window.

To save changes and open the new "Add Property" window, click the button, located in the lower center of the 'Add Property' window.

To save changes and duplicate the "Add property" window, click the button, located in the lower right of the "Add Property" window.

To add multiple property data points for the same temperature (e.g., multiple lab results), check the "Multiple Measurements" checkbox and add as many data points as needed by clicking the button. This feature is not automatically enabled for all properties and needs to be configured for each property individually.

The same steps are followed when editing property values.

Add/Edit a Diagram

Select Condition

To add a diagram, select the desired condition to which diagram will be added (See section "Add/Edit a Conditions" above) and click the button, located to the left of each Condition and select "Add Diagram".

Select Diagram

  • Select the desired diagram type by using the searchable drop-down list (e.g. “Modulus of Elasticity - Temperature”).

  • Populate "Note" text box with the name of the curve.

  • Define curve type: Spline, Straight line or Points.

  • Select available unit groups for both axis (preselected on metric units).

If the diagram type is not available in the list, make sure to add it in the Data Maintenance - Diagram Type section of Creator.

Add/Edit Diagram values

Diagram values can be added/edited in two ways:

  • By populating desired data by clicking the “ADD POINT” button (insert of data by each point).

  • By importing points - Click the "IMPORT POINTS" button. Populate the file template (sample.xls, sample.xlxs, sample.txt), choose desired populated file – "Choose file" and click the “Import” button for importing populated file (If existing points should be overwritten, select the "Overwrite existing points" checkbox).

To save changes and close the "Add Diagram" window, click the "SAVE" button, located in the lower left of the "Add Diagram" window.

To setup the diagram axis, click the "SETUP DIAGRAM" button located in the lower left corner of created diagram.

To edit points, click the located in the right corner of the created diagram.

The same steps are followed when editing diagrams.

Navigate to the Documents subsection of the Properties section.

Order and location of Documents section in Material pages is changable and can be adjusted and changed in Data Maintenance' Property Groups.

Add Documents

To add a new document, click the "ADD DOCUMENT" button. A pop-up window will appear. Follow the steps below:

  1. Select a file by clicking the "Choose File" button (maximum upload size of document is 20 MB).

  2. Enter the document's display name in the "Display Name" textbox (the uploaded document's name will automatically populate this field).

  3. Provide a description in the "Description" textbox (optional).

  4. Choose the document type from the Document Type drop-down list.

  5. Specify the property group(s) from Property Group drop-down list for which uploaded document will be visible (optional). Document will be displayed on each page of the selected property groups.

To add a new link, click the "ADD LINK" button. A pop-up window will appear. Follow the steps below:

  1. Provide URL of the link in "URL" textbox.

  2. Provide link name to be displayed in "URL text" textbox.

  3. Choose the link type from the "Link Type" drop-down list.

  4. Specify the property group(s) from "Property Group" drop-down list for which specified link will be visible (optional). Link will be displayed on each page of the selected property groups.
