# Reference Types

Organize and customize your material data by categorizing it into various reference types like Experimental, Standard, Internal standards or any desired name.

To create a new Reference type or edit/delete an existing one, click the "ADD REFERENCE TYPE"<img src="/files/FjRPN5pWphbt4K6WDzmn" alt="" data-size="line"> or <img src="/files/gZVQvKOaachot6qs8lPO" alt="" data-size="line"> buttons in the interface. This will open a window in which the "Reference type" (mandatory) and optional "Description" are defined.
